What energizes me ?

The one thing I could do all day long and not notice the time passing by is reading. I absolutley love to read. I get so drawn into the storyline and characters. I can imagine myself in the setting and situations I am reading about. When the "Twilight" Saga came out I read all 4 books in less than a week. I could not put them down. Nora Roberts is my favorite author. I could read her books over and over again and there are a few that I have done just that with. I get so involved with the story lines that I can almost feel what the characters are feeling at that time. I always hate to get to the end of a book because I want to know more about the characters and their lives.

To "Spoon Feed" or not to "Spoon Feed" ??

I sort of like to have information "spoon fed" to me. My college instructors do not do as much spoon feeding as my high school teachers did. In my high school years we were given direct information that was needed in order to pass tests and quizes. We didn't go into as much detail as we do in college. I have noticed that we cover alot more information in my college classes. Tests have more details also !!! I think that when you have an "overload" of information that needs to be absorbed, spoon feeding is a good idea. I believe that my beliefs says I am a practical person who is wants to get the information whether it is spoon fed or not because I want to learn.

My Favorite Classes

Well, I have been in college now for over a month and I have learned so much in such a short amount of time. I am taking BIO111, BIO169, ACA115, HUM115, and ENG111. Needless to say I have a full schedule !!! My two most favorite classes are BIO111 and BIO169. These two classes kind of run hand in hand. BIO111 basically covers in more depth what we are skimming over in BIO169. I LOVE the fact that I can be hands on in BIO169. I disected a pig's heart last wednesday. That was AWESOME!!! We are getting our cat's to dissect next week. I also enjoy my lab time in BIO111. I never thought about water coherency until a couple of weeks ago. It is amazing that a penny will hold an average of 34 drops of water before it spills over. Another thing I really like is just learning about all of the systems in the body. I never realized that the human body was as capable as it is to withstand all the punishment we give it (so to speak).

WELCOME TO MY BLOG

Welcome to my new blog! My name is Dawn and I am from Bladenboro, NC. I am currently enrolled at Bladen Community College. I am taking general education classes to fulfill the requirements to get accepted in the ADN program. I am hoping that I will be accepted into the 2011 fall class. After I receive my ADN I plan to attend UNC-P to get my bachelors in nursing. My goal is to be able to attend East Carolina University specializing in midwifery. I am hopeful that I will have completed the majority of this within the next 5 years.
